Press, News, Interviews & Articles about Christian Schaffer.
Asked whether she felt, because of her large social media presence, she had a responsibility to educate people on the nuances of life in a van, Ms. Schaffer said it was important for her to find “a balance between educating and sharing in a positive way, and hopefully encouraging people to also want to protect these places.”
“As opposed to policing” or gatekeeping the lifestyle, she said, “I’d rather inspire people.”

More and more people are turning to life on wheels to beat the cost of living - here's how YouTuber Christian Schaffer does it. Many Americans feel the overbearing weight of living costs, rent, and utilities and are turning to life on the road as an alternative.
We first discovered Christian’s work on Instagram, and immediately fell in love with her exquisite way of capturing the magic of the outdoors. Our newest launch—the S.O.S. Rescue Mask— was born from a winter weekend in the mountains, and we are honored to feature one of Christian’s moving mountain landscapes on the outer box.

“I feel so lucky to be able to collaborate with Christian, I’ve admired her work for a long time so it’s a bit of a dream to work together on something.” - India Bourne
I was honored to collaborate with India on her December 2021 single release: Let It Snow. I first discovered India through her work with Ben Howard years ago, and she has been an inspiration ever since. It’s a dream of mine to continue working with musicians to create album covers and hopefully one day - music videos. Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! is a Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne cover, mixed by @jakwob_ and mastered by Kevin Smith at The Foundry. Image by @christianschaffer

Living and traveling on the road full-time with no permanent address is a dream that many photographers aspire to. For American outdoor adventure travel photographer, Christian Schaffer, it's as much about the simplicity of freedom within the world as it is about exploring her autonomy and inner psyche.
Capture One, developed by Phase One, is a powerful and intuitive software made for every photographer, so your photo editing experience is smoother and more precise than ever. I worked with the Capture One team to help review and launch their newest product, Capture One 20.

Although, like everyone else, Instagram adventurers are staying home now, their Instagram feeds offer gorgeous, calming scenes and inspiration for a well-traveled future. Schaffer’s “nonstop array of pink sunsets, oceans, and mountains makes you feel like you’re flying through a dream.”

Seven days. It had been seven days since day one. I was on the 5th floor of the Hodelpa Gran Almirante, sipping a glass of champagne in the VIP lounge. I looked woefully out of place, my dirty shoes still wet from river rafting the day before. I couldn’t help but smile…this was my life lately

"When it comes to travel, I’ve found that having an open mind is the most valuable asset you can have. Leave space for the unexpected, and embrace the good along with the bad. If you can travel someplace alone at least once. Even if everything goes wrong you will learn things about yourself that you might otherwise never know."

"While driving through Yellowstone, I was drawn to the simple curve of this stream winding through these tall lodge pole pines. Of all the iconic sights I saw in the Yellowstone, this random roadside spot was my favorite. A simple reminder that beauty can be found in the most unexpected places."

Hitting the Trails: Good-to-know-guidelines for heading outdoors.
A trek, a ride, fresh turns or a new ascent — our stoke is not fueled by the main event alone. Sure the hard work you put in to your adventure will always pay off in story cred and memories made, but the time you actually spend planning an adventure or slowing down, connecting and hanging during your adventure can actually be the most rewarding.
As a company founded by women, we've found continuous encouragement in the stories behind the women we're inspired by. These narratives are meant to be celebrated — not just today — but every day. We sat down with a handful of these women — the mothers, photographers, and business owners — to listen to the ways in which they're using photography to capture what matters most.
Christian Schaffer: The tireless trekker
A few years ago, Christian took a year off and traveled alone through the 5 continents. Now based in the US, she immerses herself in wild places, has trekked for 24 days along the John Muir Trail and road tripped for weeks at a time through the national parks. “For me, few things can compare to a night under the stars, surrounded by mountain peaks, trees and good people” she says. I couldn’t agree more!
If you love beautiful mountains and burning a few calories on a good hike, Alberta is the place for you. The Rocky Mountains are one of the best parts of our beautiful province. We have endless amounts of mountains, hike trails, rivers and valleys. Alberta is definitely an outdoor-lovers wonderland.
Christian Schaffer was struck by the power of aerial perspectives at a film festival two years ago. "The incredible potential for story-telling and the creation of dynamic narratives is ultimately what inspired me to invest in a drone," she said. To her, aerial imagery enables viewers to become fully immersed in an experience.
If you haven’t heard, it was recently announced that all Canadian national parks will be free in 2017. What better time to explore the great Canadian outdoors? Parks Canada will be waiving park admission fees for the year to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.
No one likes to say goodbye to summer. We love fall as well, but nothing beats the bright landscapes, happy people and crowded beaches of one of the best seasons around, summer. Here are some summer drone pics to brighten your day as you stare down the arrival of fall and, gasp…winter right around the corner.
When it comes to aiming for that early morning light, a little bit of preparation can go a long way. I usually capture my best images when I have taken time to scout my location beforehand and dial in on the exact times of sunrise/twilight, as well as weather. Sometimes you may have a particular subject in mind, or you may want to capture just the sunrise itself. Taking time to compose your image beforehand can allow you to get creative when the light peaks.

Reflections and Photography by Christian Schaffer. I don’t know what day it is. Only that it’s the first day I’ve ever started my own campfire. I’m alone, in La Push, Washington. I stood on the beach today at sunset. Watching people balance cameras while wearing knit hats and flannel shirts – teetering out onto massive logs, silhouetted together against a crimson sky. I saw the same scene I had seen five years before [...]
Five minutes after leaving the airport, I very narrowly escaped a head-on collision. I had never driven on the left side of the road, and recited it as I struggled to negotiate winding roads, torrential rains, and mind-blowing views. I imagined driving in New Zealand might be a challenge, but traveling such long distances on nearly abandoned roads seemed to lull me into a trancelike lullaby, and I feel compelled to admit that on more than one occasion [...]
